I’m a summer girl. Give me sunshine, warm weather, and somewhere near the water, and I’m happy.
But I do love snow—with a few conditions.
Preferably, I’m looking at it through a big window. There’s a fireplace nearby, something good in my glass, and the person I love next to me. If there’s a soft blanket involved, even better.
You probably won’t find me rushing outside for the first run down the mountain. I’m more interested in the view, a slow morning, and deciding whether we really need to leave our cozy spot just yet.
And that’s exactly why a winter getaway sounds so good to me.
A little less doing, a little more being together
It’s easy to spend plenty of time around someone without making much time for each other. There’s work, errands, kids, sports practice, dinner to figure out, and always somewhere you need to be.
Then come the holidays—with all the shopping, gatherings, and making things special for everyone else. It’s wonderful, but it’s also a lot.
After the holiday rush, it’s worth thinking about yourselves for a change. A few days to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy each other without watching the clock or figuring out who needs a ride.
You deserve that time together. You don’t have to wait for an anniversary or a special occasion to make it happen.
You don’t have to ski to enjoy a mountain escape
If one of you loves the slopes and the other would rather enjoy the fireplace, there’s room for both kinds of vacation.
Maybe you spend the morning doing your own thing and meet up for a late lunch. Maybe neither of you skis, and your trip revolves around good food, beautiful scenery, and a little exploring.
A mountain getaway can be a scenic drive, a couples massage, or a short walk that ends with hot chocolate. It can also be staying inside because you booked a room with a view and intend to enjoy it.
I certainly wouldn’t judge.
The best trip is one that fits the two of you. You don’t need to fill every hour to make it memorable.
The room is part of the getaway
For this kind of escape, I’d put a little extra thought into where we stay.
A fireplace or a beautiful view would be high on my list. So would somewhere comfortable to sit together—because a cozy evening loses a little of its charm if your only seating option is the edge of the bed.
I’d also think about dinner. Is there a restaurant on the property? Can we walk somewhere nearby? If we want a quiet night in, is room service available?
And how are we getting there? A mountain hotel might look wonderful in photos, but it helps to understand the drive, airport transfers, and winter transportation before booking.
Those details help you settle in and enjoy the trip once you arrive.
Make room for a little romance
Romance doesn’t always need a big production.
It might be ordering dessert to share. Putting your phones away over dinner. Sitting a little closer while you watch the snow come down.
I think there’s something lovely about being somewhere cold when you have somewhere warm to return to—and someone you love to share it with.
I’ll always be a summer girl. But snowy views, a crackling fireplace, and a cozy evening together? I can absolutely make room for that.
If a winter escape sounds like something the two of you need, I’d love to help you find your spot.
Let me handle the planning. You handle the fun.
